Warp pads and requirements
The Adventure Mode warp pads no longer have to follow the original game's unlock order. A generated world can give each physical pad a new requirement, and the display above the pad tells you what that seed expects.
Read the symbols above the pad
The floating symbol is the requirement for that physical pad. It can ask for a number of Trophies, Keys, Relics, CTR Tokens, or Gems. A count next to the symbol tells you how many are needed.
These are Archipelago items. You can receive them from checks in CTR or from another game in the same multiworld. Finishing more races is therefore not always the immediate answer. Someone else may be holding the item that opens your route.
A pad that is free has no item requirement. A requirement that you already satisfy is treated as open rather than falling back to the original game's requirement.
Physical pad and destination are separate
The requirement belongs to the pad you are standing in front of. The destination can also be shuffled, depending on the generated settings. This means the Crash Cove pad may lead somewhere unexpected while still using the requirement assigned to that physical spot.
You still need Keys to move between the Adventure hubs. Shuffling a pad's destination does not move the pad itself or remove the need to reach it.
The second phase can have its own lock
A pad leading to a Trophy track starts with its Trophy Race. The track's CTR Challenge and Relic Race come next, and your settings can give them a separate entry requirement.
After you clear the Trophy Race, those second-phase races become available when that requirement is met. You do not need to break every AP box first. If the pad has no second requirement, clearing the Trophy Race is enough.
If the second requirement is still unmet, unfinished AP boxes or a per-track Wumpa check keep the ordinary race available. Once those are cleared, the pad can close again and display what you need for the CTR Challenge and Relic Race. Meeting that requirement opens the second phase without waiting for any remaining AP boxes.
Race, arena, trial, and cup pads
With racer-locked pads, the display also names the required character. REQUIRES <CHARACTER> means that racer has not been received yet; the manual character selector uses NOT UNLOCKED. Receiving the racer allows the pad to load its race with that character, subject to the other requirements.
Randomized requirements are not limited to the sixteen ordinary Trophy Race pads. A seed can include Crystal Challenges, Slide Coliseum and Turbo Track, and Gem Cups in the same system. Their physical location still matters: you must be able to reach the hub or Cups Room before its pads matter.
If a pad looks wrong
First check whether the destination was shuffled and whether the pad is showing a second-stage requirement. If the displayed item is already in your inventory but the pad remains closed, make a support bundle and report the seed and pad. The client display and the Archipelago server are intended to enforce the same requirement.
