Crash Team Racing Archipelago
Race through the original Crash Team Racing as an Archipelago randomizer. Your races and challenges can hold progression for you or for other players, and their games send items back into yours.
Requires a disc image made from your own North American (NTSC-U) Crash Team Racing disc. No game data is included.
Read the 0.2.0 release notes for the new checks, racers, kart upgrades, traps and known limitations.
Win a race, unlock another world
CTR Archipelago connects Crash Team Racing directly to an Archipelago multiworld. Winning a race or clearing a challenge can send an important item to another player, and somebody exploring a completely different game can find the item that opens your next track.
- Win Cortex Castle
- That race held a Hookshot
- It lands in another player's game
- A friend opens a chest in their game
- It held one of your unlock keys
- A new hub door opens in CTR
Every player's game stays its own game. Archipelago connects the progression between them.
Adventure Mode becomes a new puzzle every time
The familiar Adventure Mode hub turns into a randomized progression puzzle. Every newly generated world asks something different of the warp pads, and trophies, keys, gems, and relics become items that can arrive from any game in your multiworld. Instead of following the same route every time, you work with what your multiworld gives you.
No emulator, no patching
CTR Archipelago is built on the community decompilation work around the original game, so it runs as a native application on Windows, Linux, and Steam Deck and connects to your Archipelago room on its own. There is no emulator, no ROM patching, no separate connector client, and no Python install just to play. If you only want plain Crash Team Racing on PC, see Play Crash Team Racing on PC.
Bring your own disc. CTR Archipelago contains no retail game data. You need a disc image of your own North American (NTSC-U) Crash Team Racing disc.
